Yes they will blow themselves up, even sometimes in the opening salvo. Page tools Page tools. With all this in mind i have altered my tactics to better fit the very unique skaven playstyle. Published Oct. Initially, i noticed some similiarities with the vampire counts: Expendable infantry High model count Summoning Poweful AoE effects on their support units So naturally i tried to apply to the skaven the same principles i had learned from the vampire counts, but with time i learned that there are just as many differences between them as there are similiarities: Low morale VS unbreakable Shock damage VS slow damage over time Powerful skirmishers and artillery VS complete lack of ranged units Lack of healing VS plentiful regeneration, healing and resurrection This meant that while with the vampires i could engage the enemy with meatshields and slowly wear them down through a long, attritious melee with the support of buffing or damaging auras, this wasn't possible for the skaven. Personally i've only recently started to appreciate the skaven, as i think previously i didn't have a good grasp on their playstyle. This would probably make for a fun 1-drop army that has a lot of pretty efficient ranged weapons. You cannons are stupid-good tier, as they can either snipe monsters mediocre due to the random strenght or obliterate large blocks of troops.
